Taxis ... Cabs ...

Il existe deux types de taxis à Jersey. Ceux à insigne jaune, et ceux à insigne blanc.

Les taxis à insigne jaune sont les taxis municipaux. Ils conduisent les passagers depuis une station de taxi (liste ci-dessous) jusqu'à la destination choisie. A l'aéroport, cette station se trouve à côté des arrivées; et au port à l'extérieur du bâtiment des arrivées. Quant à  Saint Hélier, trois stations sont également disponibles.

Les taxis à insigne blanc appartiennent à des compagnies de taxi privées, ils vous collectent puis déposent aux endroits de votre choix, sans supplément pour les bagages.

There are two types of taxis on the Island, Controlled (Taxis) and Restricted (Cabs). The main difference between the two is that Controlled taxis have a yellow roof sign and a Restricted cab will have a white roof sign normally with the company name on and the words 'restricted'.

Rank Taxis : Rank taxi drivers take passengers from the taxi rank to their destination. Taxi ranks are adjacent to the arrivals building at the airport and just outside the arrivals building at the harbour. Taxi ranks can also be found at various locations throughout St Helier.

Restricted cabs: Cabs provide door to door pick up. There is no supplement or baggage charge

Traiteur & Cérémonie ... Caterer & Ceremony ...

Non, non, nous ne nous endormons pas ... L'urgence du début (concernant notamment le lieu de réception) étant passée, nous appréhendons maintenant les choses plus sereinement, mais sûrement.

Le traiteur est enfin trouvé, et réservé! Croisons les doigts, ce sera de l'english food ... Aïe ... Hahaha ... A ce sujet, nous prévoyons le dîner de réception le samedi soir,  ainsi qu'un barbecue le dimanche midi (au Château, de 13 et 17 heures, environ). Il faudra donc que vous nous précisiez également si vous partagerez cet extra avec nous.

La cérémonie se déroulera également à Mont Orgueil, et devrait se tenir dans la chapelle du château. Par commodité, nous avons décidé de tout arranger au même endroit afin de profiter au maximum de cette journée, et de ne pas compliquer l'organisation de chacun avec des déplacements superflus.

J'ai hâte !! :-)




Despite a long time since our last post on this blog, preparations are still going on smoothly ... It was a bit of a rush at the beginning, especially about the venue (as best places are booked more than a year in advance) but now everything is getting planned without any issue ... Fingers crossed!

We finally found and booked our caterer! Aïe aïe aïe ... It's gonna be english food ... We won't be too fussy ... I guess I don't need to add I'm only joking ... Ah ah ah! ^^
And, by the way, you know the reception cockail/dinner will take place saturday evening/night, but we also plan a barbecue for sunday lunch (At the castle as well, around 1pm to 5pm). So, you will have to let us know if you will also share that meal with us.

The ceremony will also take place at the Castle, and should be done in the chapel. We decided to arrange everything at the same place to enjoy the most of that day and make everything easy for everyone.

Can't wait !! :-)

Où loger ? Where to stay?

Très touristique, Jersey offre de nombreuses possibilités d'hébergement. Hôtels, gîtes, chambres d'hôtes, voire même campings pour ceux qui le souhaiteraient, ne manquent pas. Il est toutefois conseillé de réserver longtemps à l'avance afin de profiter des meilleurs prix et du meilleur choix,  car l'île est très prisée, et particulièrement en été.

Jersey is a very appealing destination for tourists, so that many options of accomodation are available. Hotels, cottages, bed and breakfast, and even campsites for those of you who'd be interested, are not missing. Having said that, it is very much advised to book an accomodation a long time in advance to take advantage of good prices and best choice, as the island is very crowdy during the summer.

Ce sera là ... It will take place there ...

Le château de Mont Orgueil se situe tout à fait à l'est de Jersey, dans le village de Gorey. Priviégiez vos réservations dans ce coin si, par commodité, vous souhaitez rester tout près des festivités. Toutefois, l'île ne mesurant que 15km sur 8km, rien n'empêche de s'éloigner un peu.

A titre informatif, Gorey se trouve à environ 6km de St Hélier.

 

The Mont Orgueil Castle is located at the very east of Jersey, in a village called Gorey. So, for practical reasons, if you wanted to stay close to the celebrations, it would be better to book a place in that area. However, the island is only 15km by 8 km long, so it would also be possible to get an accommodation a bit further.

For your information, Gorey is about 6km away from St Hélier.
